- Introducing innovative products and capturing new demands from a rapidly expanding market.
Looking ahead
Demand for water purification and wastewater treatment facilities are
expected to rise in tandem with the rapid industrialization and high
population growth experienced by countries in the Asia Pacific region.
With the sustained impetus from regional governments to improve access
to clean water supply and sanitation for its population by expanding
existing water infrastructures and wastewater treatment capabilities;
the water sector continues to exhibit significant potential which will
contribute significantly to Pan Asia’s future development.
Growth Strategy
To
strengthen our market presence in Asia, the Company has established
subsidiaries in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Jakarta. We have also
incorporated a representative office in Vietnam in 1998 to further
extend our foothold within this rapidly expanding economy.
In
addition to our regional expansion initiative, we have also initiated
our strategy to extend our existing capabilities by incorporating a new
subsidiary, PA Watertech Pte Ltd that will serve to undertake
Build-Own-Operate (“BOO”) and Build-Own-Transfer (“BOT”) projects.
PAHL’s
strengths lie in it ability to adapt to key market movements and to
replicate its growth model in other operating environments. To enable
the Group to capitalise on the rapid expansion witnessed in the Asian
water treatment industry, the Group will seek to focus on the following
core strategies to further strengthen its market presence.
- Broadening its product range and applications to identify new market segments
A broader range of products will help in strengthening our
competitiveness. We intend to work with new principals who manufacture
complementary products whilst continuing to work closely with our
existing principals to leverage on their product development,
applications and technical know-how to gain access to forefront
engineering and product research capabilities. We may also leverage on
our principals’ application and technical know-how to penetrate new
market segments. By gaining insights into our principals’ technology
roadmaps, we will be able to introduce new and innovative products to
our customers.
- Building on our upstream capabilities
We intend to set up a warehouse and procurement center in China to
source for lower-cost alternatives for our imported products, enabling
us to lower our cost structure and compete more effectively in
price-sensitive markets. In addition, more OEM subcontractors may be
appointed to manufacture our in house “PA” brand of ductile iron pipes
and fittings to enhance Pan Asian’s competitive pricing and help us
penetrate into the water and wastewater treatment infrastructure
industry in China or other cost-competitive markets.
- Expanding our customer base and diversifying our geographic markets
We aim to diversify our geographic markets by strengthening our
presence in our existing markets whilst exploring new markets through
collaborative efforts with our principals. Our experiences in Asia
coupled with our involvement in projects funded by multilateral aid
agencies will place us in a good position when expanding into developed
and developing countries.
-
Expanding our product range, industry reach and technological
capability through strategic alliances, joint ventures or mergers and
acquisitions
We may enter into strategic alliances, joint ventures or mergers and
acquisitions to leverage on our comprehensive product range, industry
reach, technological capability and financial strength to achieve
greater financial performance.
